Discover a land of contrasts - from thriving, modern cities to

arid badlands filled with breath-taking views

On the southern coast of Spain is a land brimming with natural wonders, history, culture, and delicious cuisine. Andalusia may be more well-known for resort along its sunny coastline, but venture into the interior with Beyond Boundaries to discover vast canyons, ancient burial sites, spectacular views, and Moorish architecture. The itinerary focuses on the eastern provinces of Almería and Granada allowing teams to explore some of Andalusia's less-visited sites for a truly unique experience.


Journey into Bardenas Reales accompanied by local guides and the rare Andalusian donkey - each student will have their own donkey to look after and to carry equipment. Camp under star-filled skies and feast on traditional Andalusian fare whilst surrounded by breath-taking scenery. There's even something for history buffs with dolmens and cave houses to discover.

  • Day 1 - Arrive in Málaga

    Fly to Málaga and transfer to a local hostel where you will be spending your first night. Explore the city's art culture and maybe visit the the Picasso Museum - Málaga is Pablo Picasso's hometown! Enjoy a traditional Spanish dinner before returning to your hostel.

  • Day 2 - The badlands

    Transfer to Andalusia's Bardenas Reales, or badlands. This is the perfect time to take in your 

    surroundings as you complete a short acclimatisation trek before settling down for dinner at your first wild camp. 

  • Day 3 - Camp under the stars

    Today, you will meet the newest, four-legged members of the team - Andalusian donkeys! This rare breed, once favoured by royalty, is tall, strong, and perfectly suited to the arid climate of Andalusia. They are also known for their calm, docile nature. Journey into the heart of the badlands, navigating deep canyons and narrow ridges whilst taking time to soak in the stunning vistas. Arrive at your wild camp for the night and build your own shelter under the expert guidance of your local guide. Enjoy dinner under the stars.

  • Day 4 - los colorados

    After breakfast, continue your trek to an area dubbed the "Grand Canyon of Andalusia", Los Colorados. The views here really need to be seen to be believed! Enjoy a traditional Andalusian feast and spend then afternoon taking in your surroundings. This is the perfect opportunity for any budding photographers to practice their skills. This downtime will be appreciated as the team stay up late to watch the stars. 

  • Day 5 - Gorafe

    After an early start, say goodbye to your new local friends - both humans and donkeys - and travel to the ancient village of Gorafe. Here you'll ease back into modern life and spend the night in a local hostel.

  • Day 6 - Ancient Spain

    Today, the team will have an opportunity to explore Gorafe. Famed for its dolmens and cave houses, Gorafe is a history-lovers dream!

  • Day 7 - Departure day

    Say goodbye to southern Spain and make your way to the airport for your flight home.
